Between a ranging value and a stable indoor position sits an entire algorithm layer.   • CES 2026 saw Infineon, Nordic and Realtek all demonstrate Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding.

Customer specifications have moved from “supports UWB” to “which room, and to what error”.

[The gap] Ranging is not positioning

What silicon delivers is a raw ranging or signal-strength value. What the customer wants is a stable, trustworthy coordinate. That gap is invisible on the bench and appears the moment you reach a real site:

  • NLOS obstruction: bodies, metal machinery and partition walls make the signal detour, so distance is overestimated.
  • Multipath: reflections add up, and the same position reads differently from moment to moment.
  • Antenna variation: different devices and mounting angles do not read alike.

Closing that gap takes NLOS estimation, a Particle Filter, motion models and pattern matching — a separate discipline.

You own the hardware, P-Square provides the algorithm — you do not have to staff an algorithm team before you can ship positioning.

5. Frequently asked questions

Our silicon is from Decawave, Nordic or another vendor. Does that work?
Yes. Hardware independence is the core of our position: the algorithm is not tied to a particular chip or module vendor. Our existing validation platforms already cover Decawave DW1000 (UWB) and Nordic nRF54L15 (Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding). Any solution that can expose raw ranging or signal-strength values is a candidate for integration.
Where does the algorithm actually run?
On the chip or at the edge — both are supported. Choose according to product positioning and available compute: running on the chip lets the module output coordinates directly and reduces system dependencies, while running at the edge (gateway or industrial PC) centralises the computation and supports more tags and richer sensor fusion. P-Square provides the interfaces and APIs for either architecture.
What is the Start Kit, and how long does an evaluation take?
The Start Kit is an evaluation set you can stand up and measure with directly: positioning anchors, tags and the back-end software. It lets you verify accuracy and stability in your own environment before committing to product development. Please contact us for the exact contents and lead time — we will suggest a combination that matches what you need to prove.
Is this a purchase of modules from P-Square?
No. Our position is that you own the hardware while P-Square provides the algorithm and software, and the two sides sell together or apply jointly for government programmes. Taiwan alone is a limited market and international channels are expensive, so sharing development and channel cost between both sides is the model that makes sense.
