Linen Carts · Housekeeping Safety · Guest Wayfinding — RTLS for Hotels

Hotel Asset Tracking & Housekeeping Staff Safety System

P-Square delivers an RTLS positioning solution for business hotels and resorts, built primarily on low-power BLE positioning with UWB where higher precision is required. It resolves linen and cleaning carts lost across floors, lone-worker safety for housekeeping staff, loss of high-value amenities and unmeasured public-area footfall — and extends to guest smartphone wayfinding and car park guidance.

Pain Points and Solutions by Unit

UnitPain PointSolution
Housekeeping Linen carts, cleaning trolleys and luggage carts are spread across floors; shift handover requires walking every floor to find them. Tags on each cart show floor and zone directly on the handover screen, with per-floor cart counts available on demand.
Lone-Worker Safety Housekeeping staff enter guest rooms alone and cannot easily call for help in an incident. One-touch duress button pushes live location; prolonged immobility in a zone raises an automatic alert.
Engineering / Assets Projectors, mobile equipment and high-value amenities go out on loan and are not returned; stocktakes are painful. Asset tags enable automatic stocktakes and raise an alert the moment an item leaves its designated floor or zone.
Front Office / Marketing Footfall across public areas is unknown, so promotions and space planning lack evidence. Heat maps and dwell-time analytics quantify traffic by zone; messages can be pushed by area.

Deployment Scenario & Measurable Indicators

Business Hotel — Cart Tracking and Housekeeping Safety

Hotel positioning requirements concentrate on three outcomes: find the carts, protect lone workers, and understand public-area footfall. Because the P-Square BLE Locator supports 1-to-5 deployment (one PoE unit driving four USB extensions), existing low-voltage cabling can be reused — the lowest-cost approach for retrofitting an operating property.

Note: the items above are recommended indicators to track. Actual improvement varies with property size, floor count and existing network architecture; P-Square assists in establishing baseline values during the assessment phase.

Frequently Asked Questions

The hotel is operating — can this be installed without closing?
Yes. BLE Locators are low-power and can run on battery or reuse existing low-voltage cabling, so no major rewiring is required. The P-Square Locator supports 1-to-5 deployment (one PoE unit with four USB extensions), keeping both installation effort and cost low, and work can be phased floor by floor.
Guest room walls and lift lobbies block signals — will accuracy suffer?
P-Square uses an AI Fingerprinting (RF Fingerprinting) algorithm that improves accuracy by over 30% versus conventional trilateration in heavily partitioned environments, reliably resolving which building, floor and zone a cart or staff member is in.
Will guests be tracked? Are there privacy implications?
No. Guest-side positioning is smartphone-based and computed on the guest's own handset as an opt-in wayfinding service; no guest tags are issued and no guest identity data is collected. Only carts, assets and consenting staff carry tags.
Do we have to use UWB? Isn't it expensive?
Not necessarily. Hotel cart and staff tracking is typically a room- or floor-level requirement, which low-cost, low-power Bluetooth satisfies. UWB is recommended only where 10–30 cm precision is genuinely needed. P-Square's position is that customer pain points can be solved with widely deployed Bluetooth and Wi-Fi hardware rather than expensive specialised equipment.
