Do visitors need to download an app?
The guidance function requires either the museum's own app or a web interface. P-Square provides a Web API and iframe embedding, so it can be integrated into an existing official app or ticketing system rather than requiring a separate build.
Exhibitions change constantly — does the hardware need reinstalling each time?
No. BLE beacons are battery powered and require no cabling, so they can be repositioned as the layout changes. Layers and labels in the back end are user-editable, so a changeover only requires updating the floor plan and gallery settings.
How are heat maps and dwell time calculated?
The system retains historical trajectories for every tag and handset. Selecting a date and time range generates the heat map, dwell-time statistics and trajectory replay for that period, with filtering to compare specific visitor groups.
Does collecting circulation data raise privacy concerns?
Smartphone positioning is computed on the visitor's own handset, so the system receives an anonymous position sequence containing no identity data. Where visitor badge tags are used, they are represented by a number that is not bound to personal data. The exact approach can be adapted to the museum's privacy policy.
